From 1890 to Now
Late in 2014, Registered Dietitian and Nature’s Way Health Food Store owner Ruth Ann Clayton was searching for a way to bring more of the organic ingredients and quality nutrition that had long been the focus of Nature’s Way to the Mountain Home marketplace. From that discussion, the Clayton Family determined that the region would benefit from a restaurant that lives up to the same principles of fresh, organic, local, specialty diet, and fine quality foods.
The family decided to expand this concept by faithfully restoring the oldest building on the square, 12 East 7th Street. The 1890’s building had somehow remained in service even though its glory days had long past. In fact, much of the building had been unused for nearly 60 years. With respect to the building’s history as a bank, a photography studio, and even a pizza parlor, you will find the original colors, paint styles, period fixtures and features of the 1890’s structure. The resulting build-out merges art and creative design to reveal a space that brings you back to a time when families and friends would congregate in a vibrant community center. You can almost hear the old bankers doing business and feel the energy the building was known for.
Yet the menu itself is by far the best part of Nature’s Way Café's vision. Imagine a breakfast or luncheon café with classically trained chefs creating new choices every day. Using single sourced beef, organic, gluten-free, vegan, and locally sourced ingredients, you are in for an authentic flavor and quality unlike any other in the area. You’ll never find processed meats and foods here. You’ll always find unique, nutritious and delicious choices made in house from only the finest ingredients. Chef David even makes his own apple smoked bacon! Whether it is the house made soup of the day, the tart and salad of the day with its own chef crafted dressing, the signature turkey sandwich carved from fresh roasted turkey breast, the Mediterranean flavors of the house made hummus appetizer or Med sandwich, or the 100% grass-fed burger ground daily (try it with a side of house made popcorn or rosemary parmesan chips, it’s like nothing you’ve ever had) you’ll enjoy a big city café experience right here in your Mountain Home.
